These Socks ROCK!

The first shipment from Blue Moon Fiber Arts Rockin Sock Club arrived yesterday! I was so excited I was ready to blow off all of my plans for the rest of the week until I had a finished pair but the niece and nephew had other plans for Aunt Kristi's time this week.

My sister had Dr. appointments all week in Houston and didn't think a 6 year old and a 10 year old would truly appreciate the 12 hour drive each way so Logan and Lauren came to visit for a week. The only down side to this has been the fact that my kids were not yet on spring break! We have had a great time but I think my girls have felt a bit left out so I was a nice mom and took them out of school a day early for spring break which begins tomorrow at noon!

I do have a sit n stitch tonight so I can look forward to sitting down with this:
Sockclub
I cast on the first sock Tuesday but I didn't care for the guage so I ripped it back and have started it again so there really is no progress to report! If I can keep my mind on the pattern tonight hopefully I will make some headway to show you tomorrow! I probably would not have chosen the colors because I am not much for browns but it is really pretty and the keychain is the cutest thing I have seen in a long time!  Currently there are 300 of us in the club and there is a waiting list but it was totally worth it to me to pay for a year and have a fun surprise every month! Imagine, I get random sock yarn mailed to me EVERY MONTH!  I am so glad that I joined for the full year!

More tomorrow...

The thoughts we NEVER voice

Have you ever sat down and cataloged the needles and books you have? I know that we knitters frequently lament rejoice in the size of our stash but have you ever given thought to all of the other stuff that naturally comes with that stash?

I sat down this weekend to try to make some sense of the needles I own, this had a purpose of course! I just knew I had purchased many size 6 Addi's over time and knew there had to be one somewhere that I could use to cast on a new project!  This meant I had to find EACH and EVERY ONE of my missing needles! This meant that I had to also find ALL of the WIP'S!  Yikes!  Ok, we will save the  UFO discussion for another day but lets just say that I do in fact have multiple size 6 24" Addi's hanging around and that perhaps I needed to spend a week finishing up projects in an effort to curtail the insane amount of money I have spent on my knitting obsession lately rather than just call my friends down at the Handworks Gallery for a new needle...again!  It would seem that that is a habit of mine, buying multiple needles because I want to need to cast on a new sock while there are others occupying my size 2 dpn's!

Now, the other thing I have noticed is a tendency to like the same patterns, I tend to choose the same magazines for the same patterns. I thought that maybe I needed to keep track of the magazines that I buy so that I don't mistakenly re-purchase the same ones AGAIN.  This led me to sorting out the books and magazines that I have that are knitting related. Let's just say that it is a good thing my husband does not seem to have a calculator running through his head like I do...if he did I would not be allowed to have my scrapbook room or a debit card!  WOW....ok, it may be time to start being a little more thrifty and start knitting up projects that I already have and not buy any more knitting related books for at least one month...So...April 18th it is! I can do this...sure I can!

Help me! If you see me in the knitting store or the grocery store or Barnes and Noble, Do NOT under ANY circumstances let me buy ANY knitting related bound printed materials! This of course does not include my subscriptions, at least I am safe there! But just to be safe I will include  buying patterns online and printing them out myself. Surely I could knit for the rest of my life and not complete all of the projects that I have purchased patterns for!

Off to finish a few UFO's so I can reclaim some needles! Rogue is calling me!

She joined a Knitalong!

Have you seen this? Miriam has designed a beautiful shawl that I had to buy as soon as I saw it. What about this? Susan had this gorgeous scarf that I also had to buy when I saw it! So, it seemed only natural that I join the knitalong to go with both of them! It's the ..........

Unable to decide between them, I am going to do both! First up is Susan's scarf! I have everything gathered and will be casting on this morning! I even took the picture with Mudgie in the hopes that a picture of my cat with my knitting will make my knitting turn out like Wendy's! Her Lucy is a long haired Seal point and my Mudgie is a short hair Seal point!  Perhaps the kitty good luck will rub off on me and I will suddenly be able to knit as well and as fast as she does!

Not much else has been going on here, I have been rather out of sorts with the knitting since one of the twins had the flu and gave it to me and the other one had the chicken pox! We have been stuck at home forever it seems! Nothing I have put on needles with the exception of this basic sock in Opal has worked this past week! I have started and frogged so many things this week that it really doesn't bode well for the Mountain Stream Scarf but I have faith that the cat has done it's trick and by taking a picture of the cat with the supplies we will have success! At least I can still do a basic sock!

As soon as I am feeling a little better I plan to add the buttons to the side bar but I have to feel up to actually reading the typepad instructions so I can figure out how to do that! Honestly, it was much easier to edit the sidebars in Blogger! I will keep working on it and hopefully have that up tomorrow!

Meet Barry

100_2121_1 Barry is a soft cuddly friend of ours and he is waiting impaiently for me to finish up his as yet unnamed friend that will be joining him on his trip to Jamaica.  My daughter chose to name him and has had a bit of trouble with the idea that I will not let her keep him! After some discussion we decided that it was a good idea to give Barry a lot of love to take with him when he goes to live with a little boy or girl that needs him more than we do! Hopefully his new friend will be ready for travel to visit Phyl in the next day or two!

We have a sit n knit tomorrow evening and I plan to work on another bear although I need to get started on my st pats socks, not much time before that deadline will be here too!

Bears......

100_2100_2 I feel so sorry for these bears! Don't they look a little sad and pathetic when they are being knitted! I am sure it will be adorable and I will knit a dozen of them but right now it just looks emaciated!  I am knitting these bears for this. Phyl is having a bear drive and you can find the pattern for these super easy adorable bears there! The Bears will be sent to Jamaica for kids in need and she is giving away great prizes too!  The deadline is fast approaching though so get knitting! I have the yarn for quite a few hanging around here so the socks and sweaters are on the back burnerfor just a while. While I was in the dentists office yesterday I got both legs cast on and was up to the neck before the girls were done with their cleanings!  Not to mention that everyone wants a bear of their own now! Luckily the girls haven't figured out what I am knitting yet so there has been no begging for me to make them their own yet although I do have to knit one for a Girl Scout leader I know!  I will post a finished pic this afternoon!
